One Piece One Peace

“In February 2008, anyone approaching the main desk at the Davis Family YMCA, was likely to be confronted by a camera-wielding Diane Conrad, who volunteered to photograph hundreds of faces for a GAP montage. Over six hundred individual pictures were combined into one large image called One Piece One Peace. Four Davis YMCA children, shown in world-map silhouette, stand hand in hand, gazing at a rainbow over distant horizons. Hundreds of photos were organized into one piece of art; we ourselves can unite to attain one-world peace. The montage, along with a box of art supplies, was sent to Senegal, the first GAP exchange with that small West African country.” Suzanne Bort Gray, YMCA Art Instructor
