Medicine Necklace
Bear Circle Creative Cooperative, a Group of 12 Women
Tucson, Arizona, USA

The Bear Circle Creative Cooperative created and sent two medicine necklaces to a group in Daylesford, Australia. The contact person for their match in Australia sent the following letter to the Global Art Project:

“Thank you so much, I can't tell you what an impact the necklaces had. For me personally I was just so touched as I am a Transpersonal Art Therapist and much of my training included shamanic models of healing. I'm also an artist and have always been deeply drawn to shamanic and tribal things ever since I was a very small child so I just felt so overwhelmed to be matched with this particular group. Also for me personally it’s been a very difficult year and I just felt like weeping with relief when I received those necklaces. It really lifted my spirits. It just felt so good to know there are people out there who come from a sacred space and honour the soul which is so often undervalued in our modern world. For me I have often struggled to find my place in the world when I feel sometimes there is little room for the sacred. That's why it’s so special to come across people who also take the time to care about this.
We've agreed to have the necklaces at our group every week with whoever needs it most wearing the necklaces. The women just loved them and passed them around like a precious treasure. I then take them home and smudge them and care for them. Much of the work I do with groups is helping women to get in touch with their sacred self and to connect to nature as a symbol of this. The Global Art Project was particularly helpful for this group who all struggle with depression for various reasons, it really brought them out of themselves and got them thinking much broader, it was perfect and did bring great peace to us all.

Peace and love, Jyoti”
